How Sustainable Are MaxCell^® Solutions Compared to HDPE Innerduct?

MaxCell fabric innerduct solutions offer significant carbon savings over traditional HDPE rigid innerduct.

Key Environmental Benefits:

• For every 1 million ft. of single-cell MaxCell fabric innerduct solutions installed instead of HDPE rigid innerduct, carbon savings total is 644 metric tons CO₂ equivalent
• That is equal to the annual GHG emissions from over 126 passenger vehicles on the road or 72,000 gallons of gasoline consumed

How Was This Measured?

To evaluate the environmental impact of MaxCell products compared to traditional rigid HDPE innerduct, we partnered with ICF International in 2011 to conduct a Lifecycle Analysis (LCA).

• The study used both public emissions data and proprietary manufacturing data
• In 2021, the analysis was updated with Bent Branch Strategies to confirm continued GHG reductions across the supply chain

The Results:

• MaxCell has a carbon footprint that is 81.24% lower than HDPE innerduct*
• It generates 660 kg CO₂ equivalent per 1,000 ft. of single cable pathway
• This significant reduction highlights MaxCell’s role in supporting more sustainable network infrastructure to help organizations meet environmental goals
